900,000 people have found safety in the Cox Bazar's region of Bangladesh which is now home to the world's largest refugee camp.

Majlis Al Falah Trust continue to build & provide wood and metal shelters for the Rohingya community in Bangladesh.

We continue to support the Rohingya community in Bangladesh and West Bengal to help them with food distribution, aid, shelter and blanket distribution throughout the year and especially the winter/flood periods and Ramadhaan.

Blankets, food parcels for families and the elderly and hot food distribution for feeding orphans was carried out in Feb 2024 for the
Rohingya community in Bangladesh. We have continued to support the Rohingya community over many years so will continue our pledge to support them through different seasons. We again carried out Ramadhaan food pack distribution to the Rohingya refugee community in West Bengal India in both 2024 & 2025 as we do every Ramadhaan.  We then carried out food distribution in August 2024/5 during the monsoon season where it becomes difficult to manage livelihoods. We also have been supporting widows in Bharuch India through food pack distribution. See the food distribution appeal to donate for food packs and hygiene packs for the Rohingya community.

Wooden homes

During the monsoon season, the tents and temporary accommodation usually gets destroyed and damaged. Majlis Al Falah has built housing in more stable areas in Coxs bazaar with materials which will be withstand the difficult weather conditions.  In visits we have seen that in the small space they were making food to eat, sleep and use outdoor toilets, they had no electricity, no clean water and the floor they are staying in is wet.The conditions are terrible and inhabitable, unsanitary and diseases/illnesses are more likely to happen and spread in these conditions. This is why we decided to build better accommodation for the people there.

The Rohingya community has been suffering from  ongoing poverty and dire living conditions which is going to have a multigenerational impact.

Recently there has been an extra request for help due to a fire in the Rohingya refugee camp in Coxs Bazaar in Bangladesh. Thankfully, the accommodation that we built was not affected but this does highlight the need to move away from wooden housing options so that they are more weather friendly in a country prone to wet conditions or fires. 12,000+  Rohingya have been left without shelter and the fire has burnt down homes, medical facilities , education centres and mosques.
